This confessional is being repurposed by MI7, to act as a memorial to the life of a one of its top agents.

Rest in peace, Agent Fish. Fly high. I'm here to pay my respects to the majestic Eagle.

Thank you, friends! o7
Out Of Character:
I'm proud of Eagle, even though he did not make it all the way.
I decided to take this game much less seriously than I usually do coming into it, hence why Eagle was so gimmick-focused. The whole messaging everyone with "The Whale flies at midnight tonight" stuff was pretty much because I didn't care how well I did, I just wanted to have fun.
One of my favourite interactions was when Capy didn't understand Eagle's opening or the ALPHA-SEVEN story at all, so I accused him of being an agent and held him at tranquilizer-gunpoint. I did not think in any way that would lead to an alliance that would last the game.
I didn't initially care whether Eagle's antics sent him home, but that changed quite a lot after a while of talking to Kestrel. They were an absolute joy to play with and the main reason I shifted from fun to, well, intense was that I wanted to play this game with them.
To say Eagle's game is my best ever would be an understatement, I think. Fourth is my best placement, and to do so while never receiving a single vote is so out of character for me as to be, well, insane. I know Owl claims that this was a boring game where nobody ever made moves, but it did not look that way from my perspective, and I hope my confessional conveyed that a little. The votes were never as cut-and-dry as the results made them look.
I've been in similar positions of being able to ride the center before, but I've never been able to maintain it longterm. I chalk a big part of that up to Kestrel; they were able to keep the connections despite some of my antics, and the fact that people viewed them as the swing meant people naturally assumed me as the swing as well. They absolutely deserve the win here, and I hope they can pull it off.

Oh, and needless to say playing Eagle has been an absolute blast. I cannot recommend finding a fun gimmick enough; I don't think it's something enough players do.

One more thing before I am banished to the realm of invisible confland - thank you to all of you for interacting with my conf! Made the game a lot more fun also.

I know nobody can see this at this point, but going to put FTC thoughts here regardless...
I really dislike how all of the finalists (slightly less so with Capy) basically erased Eagle from the game in their opening speeches. Particularly with Kestrel, it hurts a fair bit. I get why they feel they need to, though.
I think it might come back to bite Kestrel in particular, because of the amount I talked about it in the jury. It feels like they're trying to sweep it under the rug and that could be less effective than just owning the way they played, imo.

So much of what the Cat is saying just feels wrong. It's all predicated on Eagle being a number on their side and like... it turned out that way, but Eagle was always considering options and was never *in* the Aquatica alliance, at least from my perspective. If Lion had not claimed that EoE existed, Capybara would have gone that round, for example.
But, it's Kestrel's job to present opposition, not Eagle's. Eagle gave the evidence he wanted to give in Ponderosa, from here on out he is just asking questions.

I wanted to include this, which is a reproduction of a relationship/f4 options chart from the start of f7 ibb.co/kHshC1nIt's a reproduction because it's from eagle, but I think it illustrates the point I'm going to make. (Also, it's unreadable, so I'll explain it in words) At f7, the options That had to some level been discussed with me were the following groups: Rat/bunny/eagle/me Rat/cat/eagle/me Bunny/cat/eagle/me (this f3 becomes a fun thought experiment!) Bunny/eagle/me/lion Cat/capy/eagle/me When I come to respond to you, I think it's so important to emphasise that I had options. That cat had been very vocal about their 'ideal' endgame, but one item, one weird vote, and that endgame doesn't exist. That wasn't a problem I was about to run into . Yes Kestrel go get em Also I adore that Kestrel's head tilt is present here

Man, I thought Eagle not being in this FTC would make me care about the result less. It doesn't. I really dislike that people don't see how skilled Kestrel's game was.
Cat was solidly relying on a lockstep alliance to make it, whereas Kestrel stayed in the middle of a web. I think the latter is so much more difficult to do well, and Kestrel did it so well. But at the end of the day they need to back it up with a solid FTC, I really hope they manage it.
I'm also just going to speak my mind here and say that Owl's assertions are just... bad. Why are they angry at Kestrel for not going after Cat at F5 when they labelled Kestrel as the biggest endgame threat, the person who would win if things stayed the same? If anything they should be angry at Cat for not going after Kestrel.

That all sounds pretty negative toward Cat's game, actually, and I don't think Cat played a bad game. I just really really want Kestrel to win and I think my perceptions are being warped a little by that.

I think Kestrel needs to absolutely knock it out of the park with the closing speech here. FTC felt like it went heavily Cat's way.
I feel like I'll be much more focused on the situation with Eagle than others will be, so I may be mistaken here, but I *think* Kestrel spent a lot of FTC trying to cover up the fact they worked so closely with Eagle and other people will spot that. It would have been stronger to just own it, imo - go yeah, Eagle was a great shield who I worked with until I needed to take him out. Try to make clear they had impact on Eagle's decisionmaking instead of trying to distance themself from it.

Amusingly I think the pitch for Kestrel that Eagle made in jury actually works against Kestrel now, because it focused on things Kestrel swept under the rug and just made it much more obvious they were doing so.
